Etanco roof railings, safe to say: one of the most comprehensive ranges

A plea for fall protection systems for pitched roofs, industrial roofs and machinery, or: Why collective protection is safer than individual anchor points on roofs

On the roof: Why is collective protection more safe than individual anchor points?

In the 1990s, roofs were usually secured using single anchor points. Craftsmen could attach themselves to these points using personal safety equipment and carry out their work. However, this type of safety measure has some serious disadvantages: the number of craftsmen is limited to two. In addition, freedom of movement on the roof, which is used for a wider variety of purposes nowadays, is severely restricted. Furthermore, a system with single anchor points requires a safety and rescue concept that stipulates annual maintenance.

Planning and installation included

In order to ensure maximum protection on industrial roofs for as many technicians and fitters as possible, ETANCO® today relies on collective protection by means of a load-bearing aluminium railing. This is either planned during the construction phase or installed retrospectively during renovation or modernisation. There are also tested systems of load-bearing railings that are integrated into the green roof and are held in place by substrate/gravel, as well as a specially developed system with shortened brackets if there is not enough space on the roof for the standard system. There are also other fixed roof edge railings that are attached to or on the parapet. Installation on metal roofs is also possible.

The railings also have the advantage that they do not require any special maintenance. An annual visual inspection by a qualified person is sufficient.
