Terms of Use – GHM Exhibitor Directory

1. Subject Matter & Scope

The GHM Exhibitor Directory is the digital, cross-fair platform of GHM Gesellschaft für Handwerksmessen mbH (“GHM”, “Operator”).

These Terms of Use govern the use of the platform by visitors as well as registered users (“Members”).

Information on the processing of personal data is contained in the applicable Privacy Policy.

2. Registration & Account

2.1 The platform can generally be used without registration. Certain functions require a free user account.

2.2 Only legally competent natural persons are entitled to register. All provided information must be complete and truthful.

2.3 Login credentials must be kept confidential and may not be shared with third parties.

2.4 Members may deactivate their account at any time.

Upon deactivation, personal data will be deleted or—where full deletion is not possible or not required—anonymized.

Further storage may occur where required to comply with legal retention obligations or to protect legitimate interests.

3. Functions & Services

3.1 The platform provides information about exhibitors, topics, and events, as well as digital trade fair preparation and networking between interested parties, visitors, and exhibitors.

3.2 The platform is provided in its current state of development. There is no entitlement to specific functions, availability, or scope of services.

3.3 Depending on functionality, the following services may be offered in particular:

  • Wishlist and favorites

  • Event information and registration

  • Contacting exhibitors

  • Contacting members

  • Personalized content and recommendations

3.4 The operator may further develop, modify, or discontinue functions at any time, provided this is reasonable for users.

4. Personalization & Communication

4.1 The platform may personalize content and functions based on user-selected interests and usage behavior to improve relevance.

4.2 Personalization is solely used within the platform and serves to improve the user experience.

4.3 Further information on data processing in this context is provided in the Privacy Policy.

4.4 Members may receive platform-related notifications. Email communication can be disabled at any time (opt-out), except for essential system messages.

4.5 Where legally required, marketing emails are only sent based on prior consent.

5. Content & Usage Rights

5.1 Members may only upload content for which they hold the necessary rights.

5.2 In particular, the following content is prohibited:

  • Illegal content

  • Misleading, discriminatory, or offensive content

  • Content violating third-party rights (e.g., copyright, trademark, personality rights)

  • Spam or unauthorized advertising

5.3 Members grant the operator a simple, non-exclusive, time-limited right to use the content for platform operation purposes.

6. Public Profiles & Interaction

6.1 Members may activate or deactivate a public profile where provided.

6.2 If a public profile is enabled, it may be viewed by other members and exhibitors. Regardless of profile visibility settings, selected profile data may be shared with exhibitors or contacted members when necessary for platform functions (e.g., event registration or direct contact). Contact by others is only possible if a public profile is activated.

6.3 Communication features may be restricted or disabled at any time. Existing interactions remain unaffected.

7. Availability & Operation

7.1 The operator strives for high platform availability but does not guarantee uninterrupted access.

7.2 Maintenance, security measures, or technical disruptions may cause limitations.

8. Abuse & Sanctions

8.1 The operator may take appropriate measures in case of violations of these Terms or unlawful behavior.

8.2 Measures may include warnings as well as temporary or permanent account deactivation. Data deletion or anonymization follows legal requirements and the Privacy Policy.

8.3 Measures are chosen based on the severity of the violation and legitimate user interests.

8.4 Where possible and reasonable, members will be given the opportunity to comment before permanent measures are taken. In severe cases, immediate action may be taken.

9. Liability

9.1 The operator is fully liable for intent and gross negligence, as well as for injury to life, body, or health.

9.2 In cases of slight negligence concerning essential contractual obligations, liability is limited to foreseeable damages typical for this type of contract.

9.3 Otherwise, liability is excluded.

9.4 Mandatory statutory liability provisions remain unaffected.

10. Third-Party Content & Platform Liability

10.1 The platform contains content from members and exhibitors, over which the operator has no direct control.

10.2 No prior content review is performed.

10.3 Upon becoming aware of unlawful content, it will be reviewed and removed in accordance with legal requirements.

11. Technical Protection Measures

Automated access to the platform (e.g., bots, scraping, or similar technologies) is prohibited unless expressly permitted.

12. Changes to Terms of Use

12.1 The operator may modify these Terms where necessary and reasonable for users.

12.2 Registered members will be informed of significant changes in advance.

12.3 Members may object to changes. In this case, continued use of the platform is not possible. Members may deactivate their account at any time.

13. Final Provisions

13.1 German law applies.

13.2 Where legally permissible, place of jurisdiction is the operator’s registered office.

13.3 If individual provisions are invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions remains unaffected.

13.4 Updates to our Terms of Use:
We continuously improve our services and may update these Terms if necessary—for example for legal, security-related, or content-related reasons. Changes are made only if necessary and reasonable.

You will be informed at least 14 days in advance (unless immediate changes are legally required) and may review them before they take effect. If you continue to use the services afterward, the new Terms apply.

If you do not agree, you may deactivate your account at any time and stop using the platform.
