e-plax® Leak detection and waterproofing membrane -
e-plax® is a detection sealing membrane made of polymer bitumen, optimized for leak detection with the high voltage DC – a simple and reliable solution that adds extra security.
For many construction projects, a leak test is required after completion of the roof sealing works – and that makes sense. Everyone knows the situation: the roofer finishes the job and leaves the site, but then follow-up trades begin their work. Ladders and scaffolds are set up, building services and PV systems are installed. The finished roof seal ends up serving as a working and storage area.
If water intrusion occurs later, the roofer is usually the first one called back to the site. But in many cases, the damage is actually caused by subsequent crafts, not the roofer. That is why a leak test is an important quality assurance measure for roofers.
e-plax® provides the perfect contribution for leak testing using the high voltage method DC. Based on conventional self-adhesive polymer bitumen membran, the e-plax® technology has been developed.
The cold self-adhesive bitumen membrane is equipped with an electrically conductive layer, turning it into a detection-sealing membrane. e-plax® is installed like any conventional 4 mm self-adhesive base layer and serves as the foundation for leak detection with the high voltage method.
If additional layers such as green roofs or gravel are applied, e-plax® also supports leak localization using the low voltage method.
