Opened in May 2024, the Green Ark is home to more than 10,000 species across 22 greenhouses with independently regulated climates.

Key features include a rainwater recycling irrigation system and an energy-efficient design. The project is intended to serve as a centre for conservation, research and education for around 240,000 annual visitors, with a strong focus on climate change and biodiversity.

The Green Ark is the result of a collaboration between multiple organisations and the Flemish government. Kebony wood was selected for its durability and sustainability, demonstrating the connection between contemporary architecture and ecological responsibility.
