SPZ: A matter of course for roof and wood constructions

When constructing a roof, the ceiling rafters and purlins must be pulled together before nailing. The BESSEY Rafter clamp SPZ is ideal for this task. With the clamp tip driven in, it is also possible to clamp t-joints with ceiling rafters.

At the front end of the upper section there is a tip for driving the clamp into rafters or beams. With light hammer blows on the wide impact surface at the rear end of the upper section, the clamp can be easily driven into the rafter. The tip on the upper section holds the clamp securely in the sloping rafter.

The clamp's throat depth is ideally adjusted to the requirements of roof construction. The rafter clamp is available in two versions. The SPZ60K has a throat depth of 120 mm and an opening of 600 mm. In addition, there is the SPZ80K with a throat depth of 140 mm and an opening of 800 mm, which offers further advantages.

Rafters and purlins are clamped firmly using the sturdy Tommy bar on the trapezoidal thread screw. The screw of the SPZ80K has a hexagonal bolt at the end, which enables powerful and controlled clamping with a torque wrench. Clamping forces of up to 12,000 N can thus be achieved. After use, the clamp can be easily levered out using a standard batten hammer via two recesses on the upper section.

The SPZ80K has a movable special pressure plate that allows diagonal clamping up to 35°. It has a sintered steel insert, which makes it particularly durable. It is also possible to replace the pressure plate, for example with a special pressure plate with fluting.
