paXos Solar manufactures the Multi-Energy Roof (German Solar Prize 2024), an integrated solar roof that produces electricity and heat directly in the roof surface. Lightweight, seamlessly integrated, and installer-friendly. Also available: Solarbiberschwanz.
paXos Solar GmbH is a German cleantech company based in Langenfeld, North Rhine-Westphalia. We develop and manufacture integrated roofing and energy systems that combine roof covering, photovoltaics, and heat utilization into one functional solution. Our systems are ideally suited for both renovations and new builds — including complex roof geometries and architecturally sensitive buildings.
At the core of our portfolio is the paXos Multi-Energy Roof: a fully integrated solar roofing system that generates electricity and captures usable waste heat. Energy production takes place directly within the roof surface rather than via mounted modules. The result is a uniform roof appearance, low system weight, and a solution that is structurally and aesthetically optimized for both retrofits and new construction.
A key technical principle is the two-layer roof design. Our systems use a rainproof trapezoidal metal substructure with the integrated photovoltaic roof surface above it. This concept ensures long-term weather protection for over 50 years while providing optimized rear ventilation — essential for durability, performance, and efficiency of the PV system.
For this system innovation, paXos Solar was awarded the German Solar Prize in 2024, particularly for successfully combining architectural quality, energy generation, and practical applicability in existing buildings.
Another central focus is installer-friendly execution. Our systems are designed to be installed without special constructions, with minimal additional weight, and without compromising roof functionality. This opens new possibilities, especially for roofs with limited structural capacity or complex features such as dormers, valleys, and roof windows.
Our products are developed in close collaboration with master roofer companies. Feedback from tradespeople, real construction-site experience, and practical installation scenarios directly influence the continuous improvement of our systems. We welcome feedback from roofing professionals as well as new partners interested in installing and co-developing our solutions.
In addition, we offer the Solarbiberschwanz — photovoltaic roof tiles in traditional biberschwanz design, ideal for listed or historically styled buildings where conventional PV modules are not an option.
paXos Solar sees itself as a bridge between craftsmanship, architecture, and energy technology. With our systems, we aim to help ensure that solar requirements and the energy transition can be implemented in a practical, economical, and architecturally compelling way — both in new construction and renovation.
