fischer Structural Timber Screws: Getting the most out of wood

Wood is in demand worldwide – whether in prefabricated housing or multi-storey residential construction. Versatile and high-performance fischer structural timber screws make it possible to get the most out of wood – with outstanding safety, efficiency and application versatility.

In timber construction, fischer structural timber screws are efficient and economical alternatives to conventional connecting, reinforcing and fastening solutions, while also offering a high level of safety thanks to their European Technical Assessment (ETA).

PowerFast II Structural Timber Screw

Post-and-beam and rafter-to-purlin connections, the fastening of metal railings to timber substructures, and many other applications can be optimally realized with the versatile fischer PowerFast II structural timber screw (diameters 8–12 mm). Typical applications include façades, above-rafter insulation systems, roof structures, carports and much more.

Thanks to its partial thread, the screw clamps and pulls timber components tightly together, ensuring permanently secure and highly versatile timber-to-timber and metal-to-timber connections. The ETA covers numerous types of solid timber and engineered wood products, as well as use in fischer anchors with load values recommended by fischer. In combination with the fischer DuoPower ETA anchor, the PowerFast II screw in diameter 6 mm is even ETA-approved for fixings in concrete.

A variety of head types – stepped countersunk head, countersunk head, washer head and hex head with integrated washer – further expand the range of applications. The stepped countersunk head may be driven flush with the timber surface, enabling flush mounting of additional components and facilitating the straightforward assembly of timber structures.

Numerous features increase installation efficiency and user comfort. The three-rib screw tip ensures fast bite and a pre-drilling effect, allowing easy positioning and reduced wood splitting. In addition, the core cutter geometry ensures safe use even with small edge and axial distances. The increased thread pitch shortens installation time. Special shaft milling ribs, the coordinated core cutter thread geometry and the high-performance wax coating reduce driving torque and extend battery life.

PowerFull II Premium Fully Threaded Screw

The premium PowerFull II fully threaded screw (diameters 6–10 mm) is ideally suited for load-bearing timber structures. It is designed for timber-to-timber and steel-sheet-to-timber connections in both softwood and hardwood, as well as in a wide range of engineered wood products. Its optimized head and thread geometry ensures clean installation and maximum force transmission.

Milling pockets integrated into the countersunk head prevent abrasion-related damage to metal components, while the cylindrical head design allows for clean countersinking or even deep setting into the timber member. The drill point of the 10 mm versions creates a pre-drilling effect and reduces screw wandering in long screws, minimizing the risk of splitting, lowering driving torque and allowing small edge and axial distances.

Both structural timber screws are modern, high-performance solutions for fast, safe and economical use in timber construction.
