MAGNUMBOARD® OSB wall classified as REI 60-M
Fire protection in a nutshell: SWISS KRONO MAGNUMBOARD® OSB complies with REI 60-M – proof of safe timber construction in building class 4. A milestone for multi-story timber construction.
The 125 mm-thick MAGNUMBOARD® OSB wall successfully passed the demanding REI 60-M fire resistance classification. To obtain this classification, a MAGNUMBOARD® OSB wall assembly was tested at an independent testing institute, achieving excellent results. This construction meets the requirements for use in Building Class 4, for example as a fire-resistant wall or in required stairwells where mechanical impact resistance is necessary.
During the test, the wall was exposed to direct fire for 60 minutes, after which it was subjected to defined impacts from a 200 kg falling sandbag. This simulates structural elements collapsing during a fire and hitting the wall, ensuring the structural integrity of escape routes behind it even under extreme conditions.
MAGNUMBOARD® OSB is a solid load-bearing timber element that can be used directly, without any additional internal cladding, as a wall, floor or roof component. Alongside this REI 60-M solution, numerous other tested and certified constructions made with MAGNUMBOARD® OSB offer fire resistance classes ranging from 30 to 120 minutes, as well as sound insulation solutions for walls and floors, providing high-performance acoustic comfort. The SWISS KRONO Timberplanner is available online at http://www.timberplanner.com to assist with project planning.
