Rafter clamp SPZ

The BESSEY rafter clamp is the essential professional tool for roof and wood constructions. Its movable sliding arm means it can employed as a beam clamp at a moment's notice: Simply drive in the point, close the clamp, clamp it up to a high pressure – and that's all!

When a roof is being erected, the rafters and purlins must be pulled together before nailing. The BESSEY SPZ rafter clamp is ideal for this task. With the clamp tip turned in, it is also possible to clamp T-joints with rafters. The rafter clamp can also be used as a conventional screw clamp with the forged pressure plate on the upper part.

There is a point at the front end of the upper part for driving the clamp into rafters or beams. The clamp can be easily driven into the rafter with light hammer blows on the wide striking surface at the rear end of the upper part. The tip on the upper part holds the clamp securely in the inclined rafter.

The projection of the clamp is ideally adapted to the requirements of roof construction.  The rafter clamp is available in two versions. The SPZ60K has a throat depth of 120 mm and a clamping width of 600 mm. There is also the SPZ80K with 140 mm projection and 800 mm span, which is characterised by further advantages.

Rafters and purlins are powerfully tensioned using the sturdy toggle handle on the trapezoidal threaded spindle. The spindle of the SPZ80K has a hexagon at the end, which enables powerful and controlled tightening with a torque spanner. Clamping forces of up to 12,000 N can thus be achieved. After use, the clamp can be easily levered out using a standard roofing hammer via two recesses in the upper part.

The SPZ80K has a special movable pressure plate that enables clamping at an angle of up to 35°. It has a sintered steel insert, which makes it particularly durable. The pressure plate can also be replaced, for example with a cutting ring pressure plate for non-slip clamping.
