The industry gets together!

DACH+HOLZ International, the meeting point for the European roofing and carpentry trades, will take place from 15 to 18 February 2022 in Cologne. Across three trade fair halls, 302 exhibitors from 18 countries will present their innovations from the fields of timber construction, roofs, façades, extensions, plumbing and metalworking.

Stage set for Europe's most important industry exchange: DACH+HOLZ International 2022 will be held in Cologne together with the Timber Construction European Championships. A highlight that will turn the cathedral city into a Mecca for the roofing and carpentry trade. The trade fair for green building, building envelopes and timber construction will open on 15 February with 302 exhibitors from 18 countries. Among others, the following companies[1] have registered as participants: ABS Safety, Altrad Baumann, Binderholz, Festool, Fischerwerke, Hundegger, Lignotrend, Mafell, Palfinger, Peri, Pfeifer Timber, Protektor, Roto, Spax, Steico, VM Building and Weinmann.

Confident outlook on February 2022

“We as the organiser of DACH+HOLZ International and our sponsors – ZVDH (central association of German roofers) and Holzbau Deutschland (association of German carpenters) – are certain that the trade fair will be a success for all those involved. This is because the industry is very keen to meet up for its specialist trade fair in Cologne. Given the excellent business conditions for companies, there is a great deal of enthusiasm for investment right now,” said Klaus Plaschka, Managing Director of the organiser GHM Gesellschaft für Handwerksmessen mbH. “DACH+HOLZ International will of course be a special trade fair in many respects, but especially because it will be the first major gathering of the industry since the general interruption to trade fairs. We guarantee that this meet-up will be a great hit on a business as well as emotional level. The community is ready to go with the trade fair dates firmly fixed in the calendar,” said Plaschka.

Best possible industry experience in three halls

With an adapted hall layout, the exhibiting companies are divided according to their product portfolio between three halls. For example, companies specialising in pitched roofs & insulation and flat roofs & drainage are located in hall 6. Hall 7, meanwhile, is reserved for timber-related businesses and the Timber Construction European Championships. Workshop equipment, metal, the “Plumber Info Point” for members of the German Sanitation, Heating and Air Conditioning Association (ZVSHK) and the joint stand of Holzbau Deutschland and ZVDH are the main focus of hall 8. BG BAU (statutory accident insurance institution for the construction sector in Germany) will also be providing a hands-on experience of their programme on the subject of occupational health and safety, focussing on the challenges for trade unions.

Guaranteed knowledge transfer

Other highlights of the DACH+HOLZ International 2022 programme include live workshops in which skilled crafts are demonstrated to perfection, the offline exchange with influencers from the roofing and carpentry trade, the theme-based trade fair tours for tradesmen and architects and “high-end networking” on the first evening of the trade fair. On Thursday evening young tradesmen and influencers are invited to network at the ZVDH community stand. Specialist exchange with roofers and carpenters from Europe will provide for further knowledge transfer with the gathering of the IRoofA International Roofing Alliance, the Delegierter-Tagung Dachdecker (conference of roofing delegates), the International Federation for the Roofing Trade (IFD) meeting of international associations, and the conference of Timber Construction Europe which will also all be taking place at the trade fair.

digitalBAU parallel to DACH+HOLZ International 2022

An event designed primarily for planners and architects will be held for the first time in conjunction with DACH+HOLZ International in Cologne. From 15 to 17 February, halls 1, 4.2 and 5.2 will accommodate digitalBAU – the trade fair for digital solutions in the construction industry organised by Messe München. The portfolio covers the entire value creation chain for all aspects of the digital planning, construction and operation of buildings. In addition to the exhibition area, there will be forums for presentations and discussions on developments and trends in digitalisation in the construction industry.

New start for trade fair in Cologne: relaxation of restrictions for all those involved

The success of ANUGA in October or the IDS at the end of September at the Cologne Exhibition Centre demonstrate that the trade fair experience is possible and in demand once again. Both events also showed how simple it can be to implement hygiene measures. Since 1 October the coronavirus regulations in North-Rhine Westphalia have made it easier to plan trade fairs and have relaxed a lot of the restrictions for exhibitors and visitors. For example, face masks can be removed to talk and eat/drink at exhibition stands as well as in congress and presentation areas – even when social distancing cannot be maintained. Parties, get-togethers and catering at stands are possible once again. And exhibitors no longer have to take down contact details for coronavirus contact tracing.

DACH+HOLZ International 2022 will take place from 15 to 18 February at the Cologne Exhibition Centre. More information can be found at www.dach-holz.com. The digital list of exhibitors and the ticket shop will be available on the website from the end of November.
